Caribbean Destination Wedding Planning Tips

Dominiq Gallagher asked:

Have you decided that you want a Caribbean destination wedding, as opposed to a wedding at home? If so, you will need to make many plans. To get started, please continue reading on for a few helpful destination wedding planning tips.

Research your options. Before deciding on a destination wedding in the Caribbean, it is important to research. Of course, find affordable airline reservations and overnight accommodations, but look beyond that. For example, some all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica give you a free standard wedding ceremony. In most cases, very few restrictions are involved, such as a 5 or 7 day stay.

Make wedding plans. As previously stated, some all-inclusive Jamaica resorts give you a free wedding. If you opt for these resorts, be sure to make your plans in advance and ensure you get a picture perfect wedding, even if it is free. If you opt for a separate wedding venue, make these plans well in advance and keep up-to-date on progress and changes.

Reexamine your decision. Make sure you are making the right choice. If you change your mind, you can still use your Caribbean reservations for your honeymoon. You may, however, run into problems with guests. For that reason, reaffirm your decision to get married in the Caribbean before telling friends and family.

Tell your family. As soon as you decide on a destination wedding, tell your family. Do you have a mother who is excited about your engagement and wants to help you plan? If so, she may get started right away. Don’t give her the opportunity to be disappointed. When telling your family, know ahead of time if you want to invite guests.

Decide on a date. When deciding on a wedding date, give time. Most of your guests will want to attend, but some may need to save money first. If you want someone special to attend, such as a best friend, give them word of your plans before the official invite arrives in the mail. Also, make sure you and all guests have time to order and receive passports.

Make your travel plans. Once you decide on a date, it is important to check availability. With a large selection of Caribbean resorts to choose from, you should not have a problem getting a reservation. With that said, if you opt for a resort with a free wedding included, double check availability before providing guests with a specific date.

Decide who to invite. When planning a Caribbean wedding, you will face a tough decision in terms of guests. Who do you want to invite? Most want to keep their destination weddings small. Also, consider finances, but fairness. Not sending an invite to one aunt, but the rest because you assume she cannot afford is tricky. Send the invite and let her decide.

Inform guests. You will want to tell immediate family members in person first, but everyone else can receive a destination wedding invitation. As previously stated, destination wedding invitations should be sent at least two months in advance.

Order invitations. For the invitations themselves, you can use a standard wedding invitation or opt for a theme. Most online and local retailers have a large selection of destination wedding invitations available for sale. Announce your wedding plans with a beautiful beach scenery in the background.

Include travel information. In addition to a destination wedding invite, you should include other information. Although optional, consider giving guests information on travel. If you already booked your travel arrangements or researched options, you may know what airline reservations and Caribbean resorts have the best deals. Share this with your guests, as they will appreciate the tips.

Consider your plans. When extending Caribbean all-inclusive resort recommendations, keep your travel plans in mind. Most guests will not just travel for your wedding and leave; they will stay and have a vacation themselves. If you intend to honeymoon too, opt for a nearby hotel or resort. You want to enjoy your honeymoon, not turn around and see a family member every step you take.

Discuss at-home plans with family. Whether you have a number of guests that cannot attend your Caribbean wedding or if you don’t want to invite guests, discuss arrangements at home with your family. With Caribbean weddings, some couples do not get a big reception, but that is something that can be done later at home.

Free Wedding Planning Ideas

Pam Kazmierczak asked:

g Planning can seem downright scary. There is so much to do, and so many people to hire. How do you make it easier? Where do you start? Start where you always do, at the beginning.

Announce The Engagement.

Announcing your engagement is pretty basic, once you get engaged it is time to tell everyone you know! This can be a pretty fun part of your engagement, announcing your future commitment and showing off your ring to all your friends and family. There are many ways you can announce your engagement. You can send out engagement announcements, have an engagement party or even use more modern forms of communication like telling the world of your upcoming nuptials on social networking sites.

Set The Date.

Being engaged is fabulous, but there is a difference between telling people you are getting married and telling them you are getting married on April 15, 2012. Having a date makes it feel less abstract and more real. Setting the date of your wedding is one of the most important decisions to make in the beginning of the engagement. So how do you choose your date? There are many ways. Sometimes people already know when they want to get married, they have the date picked out based on a holiday wedding, a tradition, or a date that means something special to the couple.

However, if you do not know that date you are getting married and there are no special dates or holidays that you want to get married on it is time to decide when you do want to get married. Narrow down your choices. Decide on the time of the year, the season or the month and go from there. Once you have decieded the season or month you want to be married in you can take a closer look at the calender and eliminate all dates you want to avoid. These would include holidays you don’t want to be married on, birthdays and anniversaries of potential guests as well as any days that bring negative feelings to you, your fiancé or your families.

Determine Your Budget.

Once you announced your engagement and set the date you need to determine how much money you have for the rest of the wedding. This may be one of the least pleasant things you need to do while planning your wedding but it is pertinent to understand how much money you have to spend so you can plan the perfect wedding with the least amount of snags as possible.

Choose Your Ceremony Site and Your Reception Site

The ceremony site is important. This is where you walk down the aisle and get married to your fiancé in front of all your family and friends. There are so many choices of places to hold the ceremony at. You can get married in a church, an outdoor garden or another outside location, a restaurant, a hotel or a private home. What you choose will affect the feel of your wedding. Each possible ceremony site would affect your wedding. When choosing where you will have your ceremony think about what kind of wedding you want if you want something classic, romantic, modern or something else entirely. When choosing your ceremony site think about how you want it to be decorated and determine if this is easily done, do this before signing any contracts.

Choosing the reception site is similair to choosing your ceremony site. Your wedding reception locale should really add to the theme of your wedding, the one you already set at the ceremony site. Some ceremony locations can double as reception locations such as hotels and restaurants, where as others such as churches and other places of worship are usually only for the ceremony.

Planning your wedding may seem daunting at first, but once you become organized and start thinking about what you have to do it really isn’t that hard. Just remember the basics. Keep the planning simple, focus on what needs to be done but try not to overstress and get organized. Make lists, check them off. Read and research online and off about weddings, wedding planning and talk to whoever you can about their own weddings and experiences.

Choosing the Right Wedding Favour

UK Wedding Store asked:

Wedding favours are a very popular feature of weddings and a much loved tradition. Choosing the right one for your wedding can be difficult and a daunting task especially if you are working to a budget, probably one which is already well stretched!

When trying to decide what favours to have, don’t rush, there is time if you plan ahead and it should be a fun thing to do. Here we have some great tips for you.

Colours and Themes

The obvious question to ask is whether you have a specific colour scheme for your wedding or a theme. If you have a specific scheme, you can pick your favours that compliment your theme and brings everything together.

Mood

The type of favour you decide upon may also depend on how formal or casual your wedding is. A less formal favour may have something more personalised and home-made than one that is more formal.

Budget

The budget can play a big part of the decision making process. Weddings cost enough as it is and favours just add to it. Favours need not be expensive if you are on a budget. You can easily make your own favours or rather than buying ready-made favours, you can buy yourself DIY favour boxes. This saves money though you have to assemble the favours yourself. This is a great way to make savings.

Bride & Groom

Think about the bride and groom and what their interests are, how they met etc. With these aspects in mind, you can come up with an idea that reflect these personalities and bring them out in the favours that you give. An example is a friend’s wedding. This couple kept chickens in their garden and for their favours, the bride made her own little chicken-looking embroidery paperweights. They were really cool and a very nice personal touch. The only investment was some fabric and time to put it together.

Use your imagination and you can come up with some great wedding favour ideas without breaking the bank.

Wedding Planning: Do Not Miss These

TM Lung asked:

There are a lot of tasks to be completed when you are planning for your wedding. You will need to be very careful when you are doing the planning work. You should never overlook the tasks. As a matter of fact, wedding planning is never an easy task.

You may wonder why wedding planning is so difficult. You may also want to know what the items involved are. In fact, there are a lot of items you need to think about. The wedding favor, invitation, and reception hall are just some of the examples of them. Besides all these items, you will also need to plan for your honeymoon. You will need to at least confirm the air tickets in advance.

You will have a schedule for your wedding planning. It is not difficult to set the schedule. You may want to read some bridal magazines or visit some online wedding forums in order to get some tips to set your schedule. You will need to list all the items involved. You will also need to layout the budget of them.

One thing you need to remember is to stick to your pre-set schedule. A lot of couples just fail to stick to the schedule. However, you will just ruin your wedding plan if you cannot really stick to it. For example, your guests may not have the time to reply you if you send the invitation too late. As a result, you must go back to your schedule from time to time. You are doing that in order to make sure that you will be working according to your schedule.

You should use a notebook or a diary to keep track of your own planning schedule. Of course it is totally fine for you to put the data in the computer. As a matter of fact, a lot of couples will find it more convenient to store the data in the mobile phone since it is already a very powerful computer. The advantage of this is that you will bring along with your mobile phone everyday and it will be very easy for you to keep track of your schedule. However, you should remember to backup the data from time to time. You will just lose everything if you lose your mobile phone.

In fact, you do not just use your mobile phone for keeping track of your wedding planning schedule. It can also be a useful tool when you are doing your research. In most cases you can take photos with your cell phone. When you visit a wedding vendor, you may take photos of the items you love and this will help you a lot when you are making your final decisions. However, you will need to make sure that you are allowed to take photos of the items.

Remember, you should start planning for your wedding as early as possible. This is because wedding planning is a time consuming job. If you have enough time to do so, the chance is that you will be planning a more wonderful event!

Don’t Break the Bank—Consider Budget Wedding Gowns

Kate Furst asked:

From the time that a girl is little, she fantasizes about a fairytale wedding, and of course, a princess wedding dress to fill out the big day—budget wedding gowns don’t even come into her ideal day. However, as you grow up, you realize that a princess gown comes with a princely price. Is it worth it?

In a word, no! When you pay several thousand dollars for a dress, you are often paying more for the label than for the quality of the craftsmanship. Most dresses—whether they are knockoffs or couture—are produced with the same fabrics, by the same people in the same countries.

However, if you do want a name-brand wedding dress, think about buying online! Many discount wedding websites can save you 20% or more on wedding dresses. They are the same gowns you get from a local bridal shop—the only difference is that you aren’t paying a marked-up price for them to give you champagne as you browse or have staff helping you around the store. These sites are usually backed by PayPal’s money-back guarantee. Make sure you’re looking at a site that offers a satisfaction or money-back guarantee.

Another option, if you are not set on a particular style, is to check out the clearance racks at your local bridal salon. While their full-priced gowns may be considerably more expensive than buying online, if you check out clearance gowns, you can find a beautiful dress at a low price.

A slightly more risky method of buying a wedding dress is buying from an eBay dress maker. Most of these sellers live in China and have a wide variety of dresses listed for under $300. Additionally, many have their own websites where you can order a custom-made dress with your own personal touch. Some question the quality of the work coming from eBay dressmakers, so again, it’s important to buy from a seller with a money-back guarantee. However, many sellers will bend over backwards to make sure their customers are happy, so it is definitely worth trying!

With all these money-saving tips, it’s almost impossible to pay full price for the dress of your dreams. You can have your big day without a matching big price tag.

Want to spend thousands of extra dollars on your wedding? Probably not! Learn more about budget wedding gowns and  other money-saving wedding secrets at http://www.YourBudgetWedding.info

Budget Wedding Favors

Mike Bromley asked:

With the money that you are already spending renting a wedding venue, getting your hands on the most elegant cake in the greater 48 states, and of course the bank sapping bridal dress, it seems silly to spend an arm and a leg on wedding favors as well, and you would be right in thinking so!

You should not completely forgo handing out wedding favors to your guests, as it is an important tradition, and a wonderful way to thank them for their support and their thoughtful wedding gifts for you and your spouse. You should certainly be frugal in choosing your wedding favors though, as many chocolatiers and other purveyors of popular wedding favor items are under the impression that they can sell their wares at exorbitant prices simply because you are buying for a wedding.

One way to get around this is to make your own wedding favors. A particularly popular favor given out at weddings are almonds coated in a thin candy shell. You can find recipes on the internet that will have you making these at home with equipment you already have in your kitchen at the meagre price of around $3.00 per pound, which will leave you wondering why you ever paid up to $20.00 per pound in the stores. Home designed gummy candies would also make great wedding favors, and these can also be made with equipment you have around your kitchen, though you may want to consider purchasing a mould that is more wedding appropriate than what you have lying around. The recipe is simple, and will only cost you, again, around $3.00 per pound, and your friends and family will love your homemade candies.

If you are looking to shy away from edible favors, then one of the most classic inedible options is the candle. Fragrant and elegant, your guests will think of you every time they use their candle, and will think back to your wedding fondly as it fills their house with a pleasant aroma. Scented candles specifically designed to be handed out as wedding favors can be found for as low as $1 a piece, which is a bargain for you and will be a treat for your guests! The do-it-yourselfer can probably make their own elegant and scented candles at even a fraction of this cost, and doing so would garner you the admiration of your guests, as they would know that you really put some effort into thanking them, rather than purchasing your thanks at a store.
